“Overall, they [projects] are better managed. We have some discipline around that. We have all these projects and it helps us make them all work together in an organised framework. I don’t know what would have happened if we had just carried on as we were. Outcomes wouldn’t have been met. We are still to realise the ultimate benefit, I think.”

Montage Business Intelligence – Finalists at the Microsoft New Zealand Partner Awards 2011
The Microsoft Partner Awards represent the pinnacle of IT industry awards in New Zealand and are the main avenue through which Microsoft recognises its channel partners. The awards celebrate the exemplary work that Microsoft partners do in making customers lives easier through the implementation of Microsoft Solutions.
Montage Business Intelligence a Microsoft Gold Business Intelligence Partner has made it to the finals for the prestigious Business Intelligence Solution of the Year. The Business Intelligence Solution that made the final was based on the good team effort and partnership by the Silver Fern Farms and Montage Business Intelligence teams.
Silver Fern Farms is New Zealand's leading procurer, processor and marketer of sheep, lamb, beef and venison. It is a co-operative that represents more than 20,000 sheep, cattle and deer farmers throughout New Zealand. In 2008 Silver Fern Farms went through a change in company strategy from a production-based approach to one of being market-focused. This new strategy was a fundamental philosophy change for Silver Fern Farms and is referred to as the "Plate to Pasture‟ approach. It means the company now extensively researches the target market and supplies products that directly reflect customer demand. To support the new business strategy, Silver Fern Farms leveraged Microsoft SQL Server to build a solution that consolidates information across the enterprise as a whole.
"Business Intelligence is all about providing good data to good people to make good decisions – and we are thrilled to have achieved this!” - Peter Jenks, Business Intelligence Architect, Silver Fern Farms. The strong partnership between Silver Fern Farms, Montage and Microsoft has made this result possible. “A successful BI program generally evolves from aligning people, processes and technology. Silver Fern Farms’ approach was spot on, they are going at the right pace rather than leading with technology and hoping the people catch up,” says Tony Millar, CEO of Montage Business Intelligence.
The winner will be announced on Thursday 17th November 2011 at the New Zealand Partner Awards in Auckland.
